Boxed Salad

Something big: I’ve been feeling really bad in the mornings, like, imagine the hangover of hangovers…when at home, but not when at the Jungle or traveling. For years. I know it’s a histamine intolerance thing. I know when it got worse, and there is nothing I can do about it. I adjusted my diet, more salad and veggies, less trigger foods, and that helped, and then it got worse again.

Well, I figured it out, and I have been sleeping poorly but feeling good in the morning for a week. It always got better when I was not at home, even when I went to India and ate all that spicy food. I thought it might be the dog. I thought it was the old carpets. I thought it was the moderate amounts of (non-fermented) alcohol (I don’t drink alcohol when I travel). I thought it was my house. Or air pollution. Or stress…I am good at stress.

It turns out its-with 99% certainty-…the super-healthy boxed baby greens and herb salad. Yeah.

I am speculating that the boxed salad starts to ferment (micro-rot), and anything fermented is pretty bad for me. I know that. No wine. No soy. No many yummy things. I don’t eat that boxed salad when I travel, and I buy fresh food from the farmer’s stand at the Jungle. (And then I brought up boxed salad last week and felt horrid.) So. This is HUGE (worthy of all-caps).

I can be a morning person again!!! That is pure joy!

I don’t sleep well (except when high histamines knock me out cold). I have horrid nightmares, but that’s nothing new, my mind just works that way. But two days ago I actual JUMPED out of bed in the morning, which is awesome. All for skipping boxed salad.

Histamine intolerance is a quest, and I just won a big prize.
